PHCA Is A Member Of The Lutheran Schools Sports League (LSSL) and the Hawaii Sports Fellowship (HSF).

The philosophy of the LSSL is to help students develop Christian-like sportsmanship through competitions in boys' and girls' volleyball, basketball, and cross country. The varsity teams include those composed of sixth through eighth grade. The JV teams may include fourth through sixth grade.  Sixth-grade athletes have the opportunity to play for both the varsity and the JV leagues.   Our Varsity and JV teams have taken several championships throughout the years in volleyball, basketball, and cross country.

The HSF is our high school league, which offers opportunities in volleyball, basketball, cross country, and soccer.  The league's rules allow schools to field teams with students in grades 7 through 12.  The HSF is a highly competitive league, and since our inclusion in 2023, we have seen success in girls' volleyball and cross country, with our most recent success coming in the form of Girls' Cross Country Champions in 2024.

In addition to an activity fee, all students wanting to participate in sports must maintain or complete the following:

  1. Maintain a 2.0 average in all subjects, as well as complete and turn in assignments when due and on a regular basis
  2. Have a current physical, allowing them to play sports
  3. Have proof of medical and/or accident insurance
  4. Parental Permission and Waiver Form
  5. Be committed to playing and attending practice

The estimated seasons for each sport are as follows:

Varsity Volleyball (Boys and Girls) - August/September

JV Volleyball (Boys and Girls) - October/November

Varsity Basketball (Boys and Girls) - January/February

JV Basketball (Boys and Girls) - After Spring Break

Students are responsible for making arrangements to be at practice. Parents will need to help provide transportation for all AWAY games and sign up for team snacks at the end of each game. Volunteers are welcomed as coaches, scorekeepers, certified or line referees, transportation providers, assistants, and cheering.
